The Bespoke Process

It begins with a conversation

Eight considered steps, from the first appointment to the finished garment — clothing built through conversation, guidance and craft, around the man who will wear it.

The Philosophy

At Herringbone & Sui, bespoke begins long before the first measurement is taken. It begins with a conversation — and ends in a garment made not to a size, but to the man who will wear it.

Book a Consultation

Every commission opens with a ninety-minute appointment with one of our Bespoke Stylists — at the Colaba atelier or over video call. We take the time to understand the occasion, your wardrobe and the way you live, before a single measurement is taken.

Choosing the Garment

Not every occasion asks for the same thing. Your stylist helps decide whether the moment calls for a suit or tuxedo, a dinner jacket, bandhgala or sherwani, a shirt or a pair of trousers — the recommendation shaped by the setting, the climate, and how often it will be worn.

03

Selecting the Cloth

Cloth from respected mills and merchants around the world, chosen not for how it looks folded on the table but for how it will perform and feel once made. We guide you through weight, drape, texture, season and colour — toward a cloth that is both beautiful and right for its purpose.

Designing Your Garment

More than fifty details, brought together with intent — not detail for its own sake, but a garment that feels coherent, balanced and unmistakably personal, guided at every turn by your stylist.

05

Measurements & Your Pattern

Measurements are taken by hand, alongside careful observation of posture, shoulder balance, stance and movement. From these a personal pattern is drafted — the foundation of this garment, and one that continues to evolve with every commission that follows.

06

The Trial

Your first fitting studies how the garment sits and moves on the body. We assess balance, length, proportion, comfort and silhouette, mark the refinements, and carry them back to the workshop — arranging a further fitting where the garment asks for it.

07

Final Finishing

The garment returns to the workshop for its final adjustments and hand finishing. Buttonholes, linings, pressing, edges and the internal details you will never see are completed with care, before it is prepared for the final fitting.

08

The Finished Garment

At the final appointment we make certain the garment fits, moves and feels exactly as intended. Your completed piece is then prepared for delivery, with guidance on wearing, pairing and caring for it — more than a garment made to measure: one made through conversation.
