A Weekend in Udaipur

What to pack when the days are hot and the evenings are ceremonial.
Udaipur runs on two clocks. The daytime one is slow and very warm; the evening one is formal, lamp-lit, and faster than you expect. A weekend bag has to answer both without doubling in size.
For the day: open linen, soft trousers, a shirt light enough to forget you are wearing. For the night: a nehru or a bandhgala that folds without protest and arrives looking pressed.
Three pieces, worn in rotation, will carry you from a rooftop breakfast to a courtyard dinner. The lake does the rest of the work.
