The Case for the Odd Jacket

The Case for the Odd Jacket

The single most useful thing a man can own.

A suit is two halves of a single idea. An odd jacket — a blazer worn with separate trousers — is a wardrobe in one garment, the piece that turns a shirt and trousers into an outfit and an outfit into something considered.

Start with navy hopsack: matte, textured, and forgiving of everything from grey flannel to stone chino. Then a soft brown, which does the same work in a warmer key.

Worn well, the odd jacket is the difference between dressed and merely clothed — and it asks almost nothing of you to get there.
